Sukanta Das

(b. 1973, Kolkata) is a contemporary Indian artist whose figurative paintings bring together mythology, nature and human emotion. His stylised figures, particularly women and characters associated with Krishna narratives, inhabit lush gardens and dreamlike landscapes where the boundaries between reality and imagination become fluid. His compositions are distinguished by graceful forms, decorative details and a rich sense of colour.

Das completed his Bachelor of Visual Arts from Rabindra Bharati University in 1996 and received a National Scholarship the same year. Through his lyrical imagery, he continues to reinterpret familiar mythological and human narratives with a distinctly contemporary sensibility.
