Shuvankar Maitra

(b. 1979, West Bengal) is a contemporary Indian artist whose paintings are rooted in a profound sensitivity towards nature. Trees and their intricate structures form a recurring presence in his work, becoming more than representations of landscape—they emerge as meditative forms carrying ideas of growth, resilience and continuity. His carefully layered marks create a rhythmic visual experience in which colour and form appear to breathe together.

Maitra studied at the Government College of Art & Craft, Kolkata, where he developed the foundations of his artistic practice. His paintings reflect a quiet dialogue between observation, memory and the enduring presence of the natural world.
