Hemant Dhane

is a contemporary Indian painter whose practice has evolved through an ongoing dialogue between abstraction, landscape and the human figure. His paintings are characterised by an intuitive approach to colour and form, with each composition carrying traces of both observation and personal reflection.

His landscapes often dissolve into semi-abstract arrangements of colour and texture, while his portraits retain a sensitivity towards gesture and expression. Rather than remaining committed to a fixed visual vocabulary, Dhane allows each body of work to emerge through experimentation, treating the process of creation as one of continual discovery and renewal. He studied Painting at Sir J. J. School of Art, Mumbai, completing his B.F.A. in 2005. His practice remains open-ended and exploratory, allowing abstraction, nature and the figure to continually reshape one another.
