Dolly Dhillon, also known as Dawinder Kaur Dhillon, is an artist whose practice brings together an enduring fascination with women, nature, and the living environment.
Based in Visakhapatnam, her artistic journey developed from a lifelong engagement with painting into a formally pursued practice, eventually leading her to study Fine Arts at Andhra University. Trees, greenery, and the female figure occupy a significant place in Dhillon’s work. She draws parallels between women and nature through ideas of resilience, nurturing, strength, and renewal. Her practice spans watercolour, oil, and printmaking, including techniques such as etching, woodcut, and mezzotint.
Beyond conventional artistic materials, Dhillon has experimented with wood bark, resin, and gold foil, transforming elements of nature into works that question ideas of beauty, value, and preservation. Her journey from pursuing art alongside family responsibilities to gaining international recognition reflects the gradual expansion of her practice. Her work continues to place the relationship between the human and natural worlds at its centre.
