Deepak Sinkar

Artist

is a contemporary artist, printmaker, and educator whose practice moves between painting, drawing, and printmaking. His works are characterised by an intuitive engagement with abstraction, where fragments, lines, textures, and layered forms come together without being bound to a singular narrative.

In series such as Circles of Existence and Homeland, Sinkar builds compositions through an interplay of shapes, marks, and surfaces. His longstanding engagement with printmaking is evident in the tactile quality of his works, where repetition and layering create visual depth and encourage a slower, closer reading of the image.

Sinkar studied Drawing and Painting at Government Chitrakala Mahavidyalaya, Nagpur, before completing his M.F.A. in Painting with Printmaking as his specialisation at Sir J. J. School of Art, Mumbai. He is reflecting a practice that continues to evolve between abstraction, material, and process.
