(b. 1996) is a contemporary Indian sculptor whose work examines structure, space, and the transformative possibilities of everyday materials. His choice of bamboo—deeply familiar within the cultural and material landscape of Bengal—becomes a means of reimagining ordinary structures as intricate works of art.
Lines, geometry, and architectural frameworks define Roy’s sculptural vocabulary. His bamboo constructions draw upon familiar forms such as fish traps, idol-making scaffolds, pandals, traditional bridges, and temporary structures, translating these functional objects into delicate yet remarkably complex compositions that occupy the space between drawing and sculpture.
Roy completed his B.F.A. and M.F.A. in Sculpture from Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata, in 2019 and 2021 respectively. His work has received recognition through several contemporary art platforms Alongside large-scale bamboo installations, Roy works with acrylic on paper, allowing his interest in line and structure to move freely between two and three dimensions. His evolving practice transforms simple materials into meditations on architecture, memory, and the transient structures that shape everyday life.
