Artist

(b. 1970, Chennai) also known as Rajchandar Balasubramanian is a modern Indian printmaker and painter who also creates three-dimensional art. Based in Chennai, his work blends traditional printmaking methods with modern technology to create deep, thoughtful designs.

His style focuses on creating layered, abstract patterns rather than everyday scenes. Instead of using a simple flat canvas, he often builds raised, three-dimensional surfaces using materials like hand-cut paper board, acrylic glass, and embossed leather. This gives his artwork a strong, textured feel that changes depending on how the light hits it.

He completed his formal education at the Government College of Fine Arts, Chennai, where he earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts and a Master of Fine Arts in Printmaking. Early in his career, he received a National Scholarship and a research grant for his printmaking skills. He also runs an advanced art studio in Chennai called Timeproofart.

His artwork has been showcased in major international exhibitions, including the Tokyo International Mini Print Triennial in Japan and events in Italy. His large-scale textured art pieces are collected by major corporate offices and prominent private art collectors.
